all stakeholders to develop best practices driven by the efforts of contractors and supported by utilities instead of the reverse . In the recent years , Wayne has partnered with Sunshine 811 to keep the Task Force running virtually and expanded statewide .
Wayne has been advocating for Florida ’ s utility contractors with articles and presentations in Florida and nationwide before such respectable industry partners as the National Common Ground Alliance , the Florida Engineering Society and the American Public Works Association . Most recently , Wayne helped with the planning of the Damage Prevention panel at the 2021 NUCA of Florida Annual Conference in July .

The Andrew J . Mayts Award

The Andrew J . Mayts Award is presented to a NUCA of Florida Board member who has made a significant contribution at the local and state level to the industry and association . This year ’ s winner is Daniel Te Young .
Daniel has provided invaluable leadership at the local and state level and across the industry , including :
■ Serving as a member of the NUCA of Florida Board of Directors since 2014 and
■ Serving as General Counsel for the NUCA of South Florida Board of Directors since 2012 .
As an active Board member with a great attendance record , Daniel has been recognized for his past involvement , winning the Gary D . Sawyer Award in 2014 and the NUCA of South Florida ’ s Member of the Year in 2017 .
His colleagues at NUCA of South Florida note that Daniel can be counted on to support NUCA of Florida events such as Legislative Days , the Annual Conference , and the President ’ s Cup . At the local level , Daniel actively participates in and supports events such as the Annual Dolphin Fishing Tournament and the Annual Scholarship Awards Night . He is an active member of the NUCA of South Florida ’ s Fishing Committee and has been instrumental in the success of the Kids Fishing Tournament . In 2020 , Daniel served as the Chair for the very first NUCA of Florida Cornhole Tournament .
As a construction law attorney , Daniel is well -positioned to serve and advocate for the industry . As General Counsel for NUCA of South Florida , Daniel donates his services at all times to the Board and Executive Director . He also assists Executive Directors at the local and state level with his services and legal advice , including researching legislation and bill drafting .
