Mitch Ellington Award

Beginning in 2017 , Marty started NUCA of North Florida ’ s Next Man Up training class . These classes are offered to give employees of member firms some exposure to areas that they might not get in their day to day activity to help them prepare for their next position . Marty has taken on the responsibility of planning sessions , scheduling locations and instructors , and even helping teach one of the modules .
The Mitch Ellington Award is presented to the contractor member or employee of a member who has made significant contributions at the local or state level to the industry or association . This year ’ s winner is Marty Adams of TB Landmark Construction of Jacksonville , FL .
Marty is the General Manager of TB Landmark Construction . He has worked in the North Florida construction business for 24 years . Marty began his career as a tail man on a pipe crew and worked his way up in the industry .
Since 2015 , Marty has served on many association committees and leadership positions , including :
■ NUCA of North Florida Executive Committee
■ NUCA of North Florida Board of Directors
■ NUCA of North Florida President
■ NUCA of North Florida Golf Committee
■ NUCA of North Florida Clay Shoot Committee and as Co-Chair
Marty and his company participated in the Trenchless License issue with NUCA of Florida that was before the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board . Their participation and expertise were instrumental in influencing the CILB to not make changes to the licensing requirements .
Marty served as NUCA of North Florida President in 2017 . As President , he helped recruit new members as well as increase the participation of several inactive members , some who now serve on the Executive Committee . He has also supported getting younger people more involved in the association .
This year , Marty agreed to stay on the NUCA of North Florida Executive Committee for an extra year when the President-Elect left the association . Although Marty is very busy at TB Landmark , he is still willing to serve in whatever capacity is needed .
For his contributions , he has also been recognized by his local chapter for his contributions when he was awarded the 2015 NUCA of North Florida Outstanding Board Member Award and the 2018 President ’ s Award .
