President ’ s Message
NUCA of Florida Members ,
I hope this note finds you all safe and well . I don ’ t know about you , but I can ’ t believe that we are already entering the 2nd quarter of 2021 . Time flies when you are having fun , right ?!
Speaking of fun , those of you who missed out on the Andrew Scott Johnson Memorial Scholarship Bass fishing tournament , missed out on a ton of fun ! We all had a great time catching fish while raising money for a great cause . Don ’ t miss out on our weekly legislative calls that our Advocacy team puts on every Friday during the legislative session . They are putting in a lot of work to protect our industry , and need our help to continue to do so . We have 2 special committees formed right now and we need volunteers for both :
1 . Concrete Pipe Specifications — This committee will work with our colleagues in the concrete pipe industry , Florida Concrete Pipe Institute , and representatives of the FDOT to address issues identified with the specifications and application in the field .
2 . FDOT & Local Government Locates — This committee will evaluate what solutions may be crafted to ensure that underground utility contractors can receive accurate , timely locate information when digging near FDOT and local government facilities . This group will work with Sunshine 811 , the FDOT and local governments .

Lastly for this month , we have our “ 40 + 1 ” Anniversary Annual Conference at the luxurious Ritz Carlton in Naples slated for June 17-19 . Registration for this event is now open online at
www . nucaflorida . org . We are having a luncheon recognizing all Past Presidents on Friday at the event . Proudly brought to you by John Woody , Inc . If you have contact information for any of the past leaders of this great Association , please let the NUCA FL staff or me know . This year we are offering more exhibitor time with an extra happy hour on Friday night and your Conference Committee is busy planning fun activities for the entire family on Saturday before the Scholarship reception and Awards Dinner .
