HB 3 passed all three of its committees and the full House, 78-40. SB 1336 passed
one of its three committees.
Legislative Review of Occupational Regulations- HB 707 by Renner/SB 1124 by Diaz
The bill schedules the repeal of specified professions over four years, beginning July 1,
2021, and ending July 1, 2024. The bill relates to over one-hundred professions and
occupations. HB 707 establishes that it is the intent of the legislature to complete a
systematic review of the costs and benefits of certain occupational regulatory programs
prior to the date set for repeal to determine whether the program should be allowed to
expire, be fully renewed, or be renewed with modifications.
HB 707 passed its two committee references and the full House, 85-29. SB 1124
passed one of three committees.
Education-SB 1568 by Hutson/HB 1203 by Mariano
The bill modifies Florida’s career and technical education program to improve and expand
apprenticeship and preapprenticeship programs, provide supports for students in work-
based learning programs, specify career education requirements for middle school
promotion and high school graduation, modify funding incentives for industry
certifications, and provide relevant mathematics pathways.
Of note, the bill was amended to specify that students in a preapprenticeship program or
courses with a work-based component are deemed to be employees of the state for
workers’ compensation purposes for medically necessary care only.
SB 1568 passed two of its three committees but died in Appropriations. HB 1203
passed all three of its committees but died on the Calendar.
