ASJMSF Scholarship Distinguished Recipient — High School
Trevor Turnquist , the valedictorian of Montverde Academy in Montverde , Florida , is this year ’ s Distinguished High School Recipient of the Andrew Scott Johnson Memorial Scholarship Foundation ’ s $ 7500 Scholarship . Trevor is the son of Jill and Scott Turnquist , Senior Territory Manager for American Cast Iron Pipe Company . Graduating summa cum laude with a weighted GPA of 4.48 , Trevor is a National Merit Commended Scholar and earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award both his Junior and Senior year . With this scholarship , Trevor will enroll at the University of Florida as a freshman and plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering , with the intent of pursuing a career as in artificial intelligence and robotics .
With his exemplary straight-A grades , Trevor was inducted into the National Honor Society his sophomore year and was an Honor Council member throughout high school , serving as President his senior year . He received college credits by passing the Advanced Placement exams in Calculus , Computer Science , Physics , Psychology , Comparative Government , Computer Science Principles and US History . Trevor earned the College Board National Rural and Small Town Award , was involved in Mu Alpha Theta , Science Honor Society , Spanish Honor Society and Rho Kappa , a History Honor Society , throughout his high school years .

A professor stated that Trevor ’ s leadership skills are unparalleled , he takes on challenges with enthusiasm , is not afraid to offer input and tasks are completed above expectation every single time . She added that Trevor is well-rounded , academically strong and a joy to be around and that his volunteer work with the Educational Technology and Innovation Center project has a lasting influence .
A leader amongst his friends and peers , Trevor excelled in leadership positions during his extracurricular school activities including President and Head of School Advisory Council ; Honor Council President ; Tourette Association of America Youth Ambassador ; and Night for the Cure Director of Technology . Trevor was also active in Model United Nations and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Huddle , where he received the Fellowship of Christian Athletes MVP Award his senior year . He also participated in Varsity Lacrosse and Club Lacrosse simultaneously the past two
