President’s Message
Hey everyone! I hope you and your families are all healthy, safe, and well. Thank
you to all our members and sponsors! Without you, this great association would
not be here.
I’d like to start this months message with a little throwback that I found while
cleaning my father-in-law’s stuff out of my new office...
MARCH 1999 | PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
March is my
Birthday, and I will
be forty something!
As I look back over
the past 23 years,
I am happy to be
an underground
utility contractor.
A lawyer, a stock
broker (in a good
firm) or a doctor may have been less stressful
and financially rewarding, but I feel I made
the correct choice. So did all of you! This is a
good profession. We interact with the public,
provide a livelihood for many thousands of
people and can interact with our employees
and industry professionals all at the same
time. I like that! In fact, I like everything about
my profession, my company, the industry and
UUCF.
Yes, it gives you gray hair, but so do your kids
in high school and college, your employees
and your customers. Do you think anybody
else has it any easier? No they don’t!
So once you realize that utility contracting is
your life, enjoy it and make the best of it. To
make the best of it, you have to be involved in
the future of the industry. Your local chapter,
UUCF and NUCA offer this vehicle. Use this
vehicle to better yourself, your company and
our industry. Don’t expect anybody to do your
job. I don’t, and I am happy to be part of our
inustrey impacting the future of FLorida and
all its citizens.

I keep this message taped above my drafting table in my office, and I often reread
it when I’m having a rough day. I think that it has a lot of value and feel that
it’s worth re-sharing for those of you who weren’t around 21 years ago to read it
the first time. As we all deal with the stresses of Covid 19 and everything else
that it brings with it, it’s important to remember that nobody has it any easier than
