percent); and Citrus County (6.0 percent). • In June 2017, all 24 metro areas in Florida had over the‐year job gains. The areas with the largest gains were Orlando‐Kissimmee Sanford (+47,200 jobs, +4.0 percent); Tampa‐St. Petersburg‐Clearwater (+46,300 jobs, +3.6 percent); and Ft. Lauderdale Pompano Beach‐Deerfield Beach (+35,100 jobs, +4.3 percent). Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in June 2017, down 0.2 percentage point from 4.3 percent in May 2017, and down 0.8 percentage point from a year ago. There were 419,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 10,138,000. The U.S. unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in June. 83rd consecutive month with positive over‐the‐year job growth. The industry gaining the most jobs was professional and business services (+47,800 jobs, +3.7 percent). Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 8,602,700 in June 2017, an increase of 19,400 jobs (+0.2 percent) over the month. The state gained 238,600 jobs over the year, an increase of 2.9 percent. Nationally, the number of jobs rose 1.6 percent over the year. Florida’s over‐the year job growth rate has exceeded the nation’s rate since May 2012. • Other industries gaining jobs included education and health services (+40,300 jobs, +3.3 percent); trade, transportation, and utilities (+35,600 jobs, +2.1 percent); leisure and hospitality (+33,500 jobs, +2.9 percent); construction (+32,400 jobs, +6.9 percent); other services (+17,400 jobs, +5.0 percent); manufacturing (+10,900 jobs, +3.1 percent); financial activities (+10,800 jobs, +2.0 percent); and government (+10,800 jobs, +1.0 percent). • The information industry lost 700 jobs (‐0.5 percent) over the year.
