PAC Challenge
"$160 for
160 Seats in'16"
Workers’ Comp – Florida’s Supreme
Court recently ruled that our state’s
workers’ compensation system is
unconstitutional due to the limit on
attorney’s fees, one of the biggest
cost-drivers in the insurance system.
We expect redress during the
Legislative Session to be an uphill
battle.
Contractors Lien Rights – NUCA
of Florida must fight efforts to
eliminate lien rights for contractors,
subcontractors and material
suppliers. Some believe that lien
rights of non-privity lienors should
be eliminated for all work on primary
residential properties. In short,
without the current credit scheme
which relies upon the construction
lien law as an additional remedy
if payment is not made, many
contractors would simply be unable
to compete and do business.
Sunshine 811 – The Pipeline
and Hazardous Materials Safety
Administration (PHMSA) is
currently reviewing all state onecall damage prevention laws to
determine compliance with new
federal standards and will maintain
enforcement authority over states

NUCA OF FLORIDA
We are in the throes of an historic
election cycle with all 160 seats in
the Florida Legislature up for grabs
due to the Supreme Court tossing
out the original Senate maps from
the redistricting process. To this end,
in order for NUCA of Florida to be
a “player” in the political arena, we
need to build up our Political Action
Committee (PAC) funds and we need
your help! Our PAC contributes
to candidates whom support our
industry and want to promote a
positive business climate in Florida.
We want every NUCA of Florida
member to give a minimum of $160
towards the 160 seats in 2016. We
need champions in the Legislature
who will go to battle for us on the
top issues, including:
