until they closed their Doors in
2014. The timing was perfect as
my old Sales Manager position at
Rinker Materials had just become
available and made for an easy
transition back. I am currently the
South Florida Sales Manager.
Why you are in the underground
utility business and how did you
get started?
HUNSICKER: My Grandfather,
Uncle and Father were all in the
Utility Construction business in
the Philadelphia, PA area. One
of their High Profile jobs was the
installation of a series of Watertight
lift station after the Wilkes Barre, PA
floods. My father took a position
with Intercounty Construction Co,
and we moved to Ft. Lauderdale
in 1963. The President Mike
Marinelli of Intercounty was one
of the Founding Fathers of NUCA
National. From the age of 9 till
when my Father passed away
when I was 13, I constantly rode
jobs with him. The Summer I
turned 16 I started working for
Webb General Contracting(UCA
Member) as a Pipelayer. I worked
Summer, Christmas and Easter
breaks all thru College. It was my
Position as Director of Construction
with CAS that I realized I wanted
to go into the Utility and Land
Development Construction industry
rather than Engineering. It was with
Rinker Materials and US Concrete
Pipe Co that I realized I preferred
RCP/Rigid Pipe over Flexible. I
enjoy serving on the Local, State
and National NUCA Boards as away
to give back to the Industry I love.
What was your first job?
HUNSICKER: At age 9 my Brother
and I had B&R Lawn Service(logo
magic marked on our TShirts)
towing a lawnmower behind my
bicycle. We charged $2.50 a cut
and my Father took 50cents from
every cut for gas and wear and tear.
What are you currently reading?
HUNSICKER: The Purpose Driven
Life.
What is your favorite movie?
HUNSICKER Unfaithful because
he’s in Mexico.
What are your hobbies or
interests outside of work?
HUNSICKER: Golf & walking.
If you could have dinner with
anyone, living or deceased, who
would it be and why?
HUNSICKER: My father so he could
see I followed in his footsteps.
Do you have any pets?
HUNSICKER: Stray cat I feed.
What is the one thing about you
no one would guess?
HUNSICKER: I’m highly
claustrophobic.
What is the first concert you
attended?
HUNSICKER: Poco and America.
