What inspired you accept this elected position ? Brodeur : Before I was ever elected to office , I was always very active in my local community organizations , whether it be the local homeowner ’ s association or the city or county commission . I would always attend the regular meetings and voice my concerns with the status quo and give my ideas for improving the local community . For years , people kept telling me that if I want to change and improve things so badly , that I should run for office . So that is exactly what I did . My goal is to leave office with my local community and the State of Florida as a whole better than when I arrived .
What is your educational background ? Brodeur : I started at Jackson Heights Middle School , then went to Oviedo High School , then in 1997 , I received my Bachelor ’ s Degree in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida . In 2003 , I received a Master ’ s Degree in Business Administration from UF as well . In 2007 I received a certificate of Executive Education , Negotiation and Decision Making from Harvard University . Finally , in 2022 I will receive a Master ’ s Degree in Public Health from Dartmouth College .
What are you currently reading ? Brodeur : Right now , I ’ m re-reading Ayn Rand ’ s Atlas Shrugged
Grill master or reservations ? Brodeur : Definitely a grill master . Smoke , charcoal , wood , even pellet – I love it all .
What is your favorite movie ? Brodeur : The Shawshank Redemption
Do you have any “ guilty pleasure ” TV Shows ? Brodeur : Parks and Recreation is a definite favorite .
What is your business philosophy ? Brodeur : Be a servant leader . Never ask someone to do what you wouldn ’ t do yourself .
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work ? Brodeur : I am an avid outdoorsman , I like to travel , and I love to read
What is your favorite book ? Brodeur : The Phantom Tollbooth . It ’ s the book that turned me on to reading . Every third grader should read it .
Do you have any pets ? Brodeur : Yes , my wife and I have a dog .
What is the first concert you attended ? Brodeur : Whitesnake . My taste in music has certainly evolved since then , but it was a great concert .
What is the one thing about you no one would guess ? Brodeur : I have been on a game show , and won .
What is your favorite college or pro team ? Brodeur : The Florida Gators
