FLORIDA BUSINESSES CREATED
MORE THAN 31,000 NEW JOBS IN NOVEMBER
Last month, Governor Rick Scott announced that Florida businesses created 31,600 new private-sector jobs in November, bringing the total number of jobs created since December 2010 to 1,266,900. For the 56th consecutive month, Florida’ s annual job growth rate of 3.5 percent is exceeding the nation’ s rate of 1.7 percent. Governor Scott will highlight this announcement at HostDime, a global data center provider of cloud-based products, later this morning. HostDime recently broke ground on a new data center facility which will help create more than 50 new jobs in Orlando. The company currently employs more than 120 Floridians.
Governor Scott said,“ I am proud to announce that more than 31,000 new jobs were created by Florida businesses last month. As we approach the end of the year, it is a great time
to reflect on how much our families and businesses have accomplished because we have turned Florida’ s economy around. Next month we will have a new president, Donald Trump, who is laser focused on growing American jobs and turning around our national economy like we have done in Florida.”
Florida’ s labor force has grown by 174,000 over the year, increasing by 64,000 over-the-month in November alone and exceeding the national labor force growth rate. This shows that more Floridians are confident in their ability to find a new opportunity in the job market. The state’ s unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in November, as a result of the rapidly growing labor force.
Cissy Proctor, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, said,“ November was another very strong month for job creation in Florida, which is great news for job seekers. Florida’ s consistent job growth and plentiful job opportunities prove that now is a great time for Floridians to find their dream job.”
