Distinguished Recipient - HIGH SCHOOL

Earning a 4.9761 weighted GPA , Jack Matthew Linkhorst is this year ’ s distinguished high school recipient of the Andrew Scott Johnson Memorial Scholarship Foundation ’ s $ 7500 scholarship . Jack is a recent graduate of Jupiter High School and is enrolled at the University of Florida Honors College summer term . He is the son of Adam and Malinda Linkhorst , both attorneys at Linkhorst & Hockin , P . A .
Graduating in the top 5 percent of his class , number 32 out of 777 students , Jack ’ s academic honors include AICE Diploma , Jupiter Environmental Academy Diploma , National Honor Society , National English Honor Society , National Science Honor Society , National Social Studies Honor Society , LAMP of Knowledge Award for maintaining a 3.5 + GPA , and Order of the Arrow , an athletic and GPA recognition award . Not just a bookworm , Jack also participated in Junior Varsity Cross County ( 10th grade ), Junior Varsity Lacrosse ( 9-10th grade ), and Varsity Lacrosse ( 11-12th grade ), bringing home the state championship his senior year . Jack also found time to play lacrosse with the Palm Beach Revolution Club Lacrosse Team .
Teachers describe Jack as “ the total package .” He is described as intelligent , mature , polite , a hard worker , and a role model for his classmates . As his AP History professor stated , Jack is known for bringing excellence to the classroom , the school and the lacrosse field .
Outside of the classroom , Jack demonstrated leadership skills and was an active member for four straight years in Key Club and Sara ’ s Smiles , raising funds for kid ’ s activities for children with cancer . Other extracurricular activities , most with a focus on community service , include : MANG Internship , planting mangroves for an environmentally-conscious company ; Stand With Us , Jewish leadership internship ; participating in Leadership Development Course , U . S . Army Airborne Ranger Training Brigade ; coaching youth lacrosse ; mentoring special needs children thru Top Soccer ; mentoring campers at Camp Chateauguay and founding the Jupiter Religious Coalition , a club that fosters religious acceptance . Jack also found time to volunteer with Playing it Forward , collecting used sporting goods for underprivileged adults and children and he worked with the Jupiter High School Athletic Boosters to clean up practice fields .
To supplement his academic experience , Jack has previously labored as a pool attendant and camp counselor , a private-instruction lacrosse coach , and as a file clerk for his parents ’ law firm for the past three years . When not studying , serving the community or playing lacrosse , Jack enjoys sports and Gator athletics .
