LAUREN BOOK Q&A
Can you briefly tell us about your
professional background?
BOOK: I began my career as a
school teacher, and my heart is still
in the classroom. In 2007, I founded
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
called Lauren’s Kids. We work each
and every day to prevent child
sexual abuse through education
and awareness and help survivors
heal with guidance and support.

We’ve developed an in-school
curriculum called ’Safer, Smarter
Schools’, resources for sexual
assault and child advocacy centers,
EMMY Award-winning awareness
campaigns, and complete speaking
engagements around the country
and the world. For the past eight
years, I’ve also laced up my
sneakers and taken the foundation’s
