Backed in Intoxication Case
The widow of a construction worker who was struck and killed by a truck should be able
to receive workers’ compensation insurance benefits, despite the likelihood that he was
intoxicated at the time of the accident, an appeals court ruled Wednesday. The decision by
a three-judge panel of the 1st District Court of Appeal stemmed from the April 2015 death of
Matthew Inmon, who was killed while walking along U.S. 1 in Volusia County after being at a bar,
according to court records.
