Why is donating and participating with the NUCA-Florida PAC so important? Candidate campaigns are expensive and political contributions are the key component to electing legislators supportive of our industry. The costs of campaigning, the turnover of legislators and competitiveness to winning state Senate and House seats shows no signs of slowing down.

Our industry is respected within the halls of the Capitol to those who have received support and an understanding of how critical we are to the growth economy. Elected officials and candidates not only seek our support for contributions, they want the good PR that comes with supporting an industry that helps to grow an economy.

NUCA-Florida and our PAC is hoping to expand its base among the Florida Legislature, and to do this we must build up our funds by raising dollars within our association and industry and by encouraging our employees and subcontractors to participate.

The importance of contributing to the NUCA-Florida PAC in 2016 is vital, as the Florida Legislature will be full of fresh faces due to the precedent -setting ruling of the Florida Supreme Court in December 2016 that requires new boundaries for the state Senate. There were already 11 Senators departing because of term limits, but now all 40 Senate seats will be up for election. Moreover, there will at least be 20 new Senators because others have left office to run for higher or local office.

The Florida House will welcome at least 43 new Representatives due to term limits or members running for another elected office.

The 2016 Election cycle is an opportunity for an organization with a funded PAC to support likeminded individuals. This does not mean contributing to every incumbent or open seat; this means being strategic in who will be supported, mainly those candidates who support the issues important to the membership. While providing a maximum contribution to those candidates is meaningful, a well- funded PAC can also assist by targeting and communicating to its membership, employees and other stakeholder groups to consider candidates.

Help move our industry forward-- contribute to the NUCA-Florida PAC and get involved in the upcoming election.
