Description: Earn one( 1.0) CEH and learn or refresh your understanding of reinforced concrete pipe( RCP) strength classes, navigating cover height tables, design load vs yield load, and strength certification. The discussion will cover both round and horizontal elliptical pipe, as well as shallow cover applications. Content will be based on current standards and design codes, but the presentation will also feature a historical perspective on concrete pipe design standards from a“ reverse engineering” of a 1930s-era Florida RCP installation.

Doug is the Director of the Florida Concrete Pipe Association. With over 27 years of civil engineering experience, he has worked in the concrete pipe industry and as a transportation consultant with Wilbur Smith Associates( now CDM Smith), Kimley-Horn and Associates, Florida Power & Light, and Rinker Materials. Doug has a B. S. in Civil Engineering from Washington University and a M. S. in Civil Engineering from Texas A & M University. He enjoys coaching baseball, family, and lives in Jupiter, FL.
