CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SUCA 2019
SCHOLARSHIP WINNER, Catherine “Cate” Alvaro,
daughter of Dennis and Christie Alvaro,
Ajax Paving Industries of Florida.
Cate graduated from Pine View School and has been accepted to The George Washington University where
she plans to major in exercise science, nutrition or public health on a pre-med track. Her goal is to have a
rewarding medical career in which she can help other people and make a positive impact in her community.
Cate graduated with an astonishing 4.75 GPA while she took honors courses, ap courses and dual
enrollment courses. Cate has earned some prestigious awards during her high school career to include Girl
Scout Gold Award in 2019, AP Scholar with Honor in 2018, Pine View 212 Degree Award and Wall of Fame
Student in 2019. Her school activities include Student Government, Class Historian (10th-12th), NJHS, NHS,
NSHS, Student Newspaper, Director of Variety Show, TA Biology and Prom Committee. She has volunteered
60+ hours at a Pediatric Dentist office, 80+ hours towards her Girl Scout Gold Award and 50+ hours at a
nursing home. In her free time Cate is a dancer on the Premiere Team at Universal Performing Arts Center
for the last 12 years. This requires 15+ hours of practice and rehearsals each week in addition to her rigorous
academic schedule and her 12 years as a Girl Scout earning in addition
to the Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award, Torch Leadership
Award, Star Leadership program graduate and 6 year student trainer.
