What is lixhewett.com
all about?
lixhewett.com is basically a
window to my soul — or at
least to my creativity! It’s a blog
that aims to introduce new
and old readers to my work
as a freelance creative. I try to
showcase my design work, display my photography, share my
personal style and give an honest look into my life as an expat
in London who’s trying hard
to make a living off creating
beautiful things. As much as I
love my work, I’m also a human
being, and I want my blog to
be a well-rounded, transparent
account of what it’s like to be
me, anxiety and zero disposable
income and all.
How did you get
started blogging?
My introduction to online journaling happened a very, very long time ago
— when I was a young wee gal of fourteen and I convinced my parents to get
an Internet modem. I quickly fell into
some Charmed (the TV show) message
boards, which eventually led me to Livejournal.com. I’ve been using that site
since February 2005.
Three years ago I decided to try to
make money off my work, though, starting with a poetry book, so I decided to
start a blog to share my poetry and style,
and do posts that mixed the two — outfits inspired by poems, was the idea. A
Classic Notion was the name — a line
from one of my favorite poems by Maryann Corbett.
I dipped my toes, so to speak, in the
blogging world when I decide to crowdfund a new laptop slash a clothing line.
