At Teaneck High School, if the absence isn’ t reported, it is considered non-excused until a signed note is submitted to the homeroom teacher.
Upon returning to school, a student must present a note signed by a parent, guardian or physician. This must include the student’ s name, date( s) and reason for absence.
According to Board of Education policy, excused absences include illness, approved religious holidays and / or death in the family. Students who are excused will be able to make up assignments and exams. Credit is not given for assignments missed during unexcused absences, but students who will be on vacation or visiting college / school campuses may make up work if prior approval has been granted by the school administrator. Board of Education policy specifically outlines penalties for high school students with excessive absences.
