BIRTHDAYS/CELEBRATIONS If you would like your child to celebrate his/her birthday in school, our classroom teachers will help recognize them on their special day. Students may bring a small store/bakery bought treats for snack. Please check in with your child’s teacher so you are aware of any food allergies other students might have. District 622 follows the district-wide guidelines around celebrating holidays. FIELD TRIPS Occasionally, the children will have opportunities to visit a local park or special event. Parents will be asked to sign a permission slip for both bus and walking trips. Transportation for field trips is contracted through the school district transportation department. Seat belts are not used on school buses with the exception of transporting children with special needs. HELP FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES (504 PLAN) If you child has an identified, documented diagnosis and needs accommoda- tions, they may be eligible for support under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. A 504 plan can provide accommodations through regular education. A 504 Plan would not apply if your child is currently receiving special education services. For more information, contact your child's school administrator. PERMISSION TO PHOTOGRAPH Throughout the year, photos and videos are taken in classrooms, in school buildings, and at events by school district staff and partner organizations for use in publications, on websites, in social media and for other outreach and public relations purposes. If you do not want your child’s photos to be used for these purposes, please ask your child’s teacher for an opt out form. This form must be completed and returned to your child’s teacher by September 30 (or within two weeks of enrollment) and is effective until September 30 of the following year.
