Voluntary Preschool

Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten was established by Governor Dayton and the 2016 Minnesota Legislature for the purpose of preparing children for success as they enter kindergarten the following year . The funding allows districts with recognized early learning programs to incorporate a voluntary Pre-K program into their E-12 system by offering the preschool free of charge . District 622 applied for funding for all preschool sites , and two school sites were chosen by the Minnesota Department of Education . These classes are open to children who live or attend childcare within each school attendance area . Transportation may be available .
