he band formed back in 2014 under the name ‘HBK’ or ‘Happy Being Kids’. Only Gabriel Batista, current guitarist, and Albani Fuenmayor, current drummer, was part of the original band

Over the next year, they recruited Sarai Sanchez and Estefania Perez, keyboard players, and Soleil Lancaster, guitarist, who were all students who came to same music studio as Gabriel and Albani. For months, the band had advertised that they needed a lead singer. That’s how current lead singer, Briana Thomas, found them. Briana’s friend was the one who wanted to try out to be the singer of the band. She made it in, but wasn’t able to make all the practices because she had after school club meetings she had to attend.

he new name of Fluorescent Adolescents was the brainchild of Gabe. “One day during band
practice, I tripped over a can of paint in the garage. I still don’t know how but I managed to get the paint all over myself. The rest of the band was laughing at me, so I decided to get revenge by hugging them with the paint all over me. By the time my mom found us, we were all covered in the paint. She laughed at us to go take a shower and come back down to clean up her garage because ‘she didn’t want to live in a fluorescent house.’ I joked around telling her that her fluorescent adolescents were on the job and the name stuck ever since.

by Ramen to sign a record deal. “I’m ready to see where the future takes us” says Thomas. “Whatever it is, I know we will be fine because I’ve got my family by my side.
