As Bloodstock Festival has grown in size, the number of interesting bands has
increased. Gracing the Sophie Lancaster Stage early on the Saturday, London’s THE
HERETIC ORDER are about as interesting as it gets. Keeping true to the blueprints of
heavy metal imagery, themes of Satan and witches are backed with blues-eque riffing
and sharp cries from a corpse-painted clanned frontman. Drummer Evil E reveals that
whilst horror is very much their theme, he himself, is not personally a fan...
“To tell you the truth I’m not really a great
fan of horror movies but the idea log is
the singer Lord, Ragnar Wagner, like his
conception of everything and I like all the
imagery and all of that but I’m not a great
fan of terror movies but he is.”
Judging from their early morning
performance at Bloodstock, THE
HERETIC ORDER are very much a
theatrical act. Wearing old-fashion robes
and accompanied by two women in white
performing an on stage ritual, there is a
degree of evil behind THE HERETIC
ORDER. Despite the band only being
active for just two years, there is already
10
a buzz and Bloodstock hightened that.
Speaking about their debut, All Hail The
Order, Evil E explains that himself and
the rest of the band are already planning
for the future, “we sold like I think nearly
400 records and that for nowadays that
it doesn’t sound much but nowadays
nobody is selling anything” says Evil E.
“For us it’s good, we’re still presenting the
album in a way, we’ve got the new album
ready by the way, well not ready but we’ve
got it composed, we still have to do the
pre-production and stuff but hopefully
start recording in October.”
