Recycling, a revolution for the future, something that can enable a reduction and the re-creation
of a product. This reoccurring problem in today’s society is beginning to transform, allowing
those involved to become ever more conscious of their global footprint and the impact they are
having long term in the UK.
This dissertation explores plastic and cardboard recycling in the UK, specifically focusing on
the impact manufacturers, retailers and consumers have on the amount of waste going to landfill sites. Reviews are made about the historical impact of recycling and the involvement of
Ethics and Sustainability Experts, showing how change can be achieved. High Street Fashion
companies are investigated as to how they have promoted themselves to the public, showing
their achievements so far in terms of sustainability. This has been completed using secondary
research methods, both online platforms and within books and newspapers.
The report focuses on determining and combining consumer opinion throughout primary research, in the format of a questionnaire and two focus groups, enabling comparisons to be formed
based on the different age groups. Here personal opinion is specified, showing consumer awareness to the issues faced in the UK.
