Location Across the West Midlands it was identify that different councils have different procedures when it came to recycling, dependent on what they could offer their residents depending on where they lived and what type of building they lived in. Participant two from focus group 18-28 (appendices 2) identify their living locations as Perry Barr, Birmingham whereby stated “don’t just because we don’t have the facilities near us…. we’ve got glass bottling recycling points (.) like round the corner…. we don’t bother because it’s just easier to put it in the bin.” This illustrates that consumers are aware and bothered by the fact that these facilities are not closer by or offered to them, therefore it is ‘easier’ to just put the plastic, glass and packaging into one black bag. In a questionnaire involving 88 participants, only four identified themselves as non-recycling participants. One participant stated “We live miles from anywhere, we don't even have a bin collection,” another backing up this issue due to location saying “Too much effort to sort and separate recyclables. Also, because I live in a rural area”. And finally the facilities not being offered to another participant “Facilities not offered in my block of flats.” Statistically this consequently classifies that every one out of twenty two people in the West Midlands does not have access to these facilities due to location. Alternatively focus group two 40-60 (appendices 3) all identified that they recycled everything possible but Participant two making the point that “we live in a throwaway society.” With consumer habits continuously adapting it is clear that fast fashion has become a huge impact on the way we shop. Consequently would it be better for retailers to introduced slow fashion back into society? 48
