Analysis
STEM subjects are key for develop-
ments in technology. Especially when
looking into technology for women.
It is hard to tell how technology will
develop and enhance women’s life, if
women are not participating within
these subjects. As Tassja Yoxall contin-
ues “This is the area that most young
people today will need to understand
to excel in tomorrow’s jobs market”
(Yoxall, 2017). Furthermore, it is im-
portant to emphasise the importance
of women working within STEM fields
as this could be a move towards,
“Closing the gender gap in industry

by increasing the number of women
in male-dominated jobs, considering
women for product design and pro-
moting more female role models and
leaders” (Frantzana, 2016). This would
be a positive move forwards in gen-
erating female equality across the UK
and eliminating the negative stereo-
type that comes with females working
within the STEM industry.
STEM subjects are so important for
the marketing industry because the
development of technology and skills
required to use this technology need
to advance in order for marketing to
constantly be fresh and innovative.
Moreover, the best way to market to
females would be via females. There-
fore, females need to be participating
in STEM subjects for marketing to be
success in the future. Girlguiding’s
approach to getting girls involved
in STEM subjects from a young age
seems promising, as it allows girls from
a young age to make a connection
with these subjects.
