The Three Waves
See appendix 1 for an outline of the three waves of feminism.
The three waves of Feminism define the stages of feminism from
its inception to the current day, and shows how feminism worked
and what feminist fought for over that certain period of time
from the first wave during 1860’s-1950’s, the second wave during
1960’s-1980’s and the last wave 1990’s to current day. As advance-
ments are made within social, political, technological and educa-
tional platforms feminism followed with the advancements there-
fore creating the three waves of Feminism (Rampton, 2016).
To this day there is still a lack of equality with issues in the news
such as the gender pay gap, Westminster sexual assaults, Harvey
Weinstein sexual assaults, Brexit, online abuse and harassment. It is
evident when looking at the current zeitgeist there is still a demand
feminism. Thus, the researcher argues that we could see a push for a
fourth wave of feminism to overcome these current day issues.
