that these issues aren’ t just in Hollywood or Westminster – they are absolutely everywhere and affect almost every woman. The response to that # from men and women was so important.
9. Do you think that fourth wave feminism is on the horizon and why?
Well the fourth wave is well and truly here! Caitlin Moran’ s‘ How to be a woman’ and Lena Dunham’ s‘ Girls’ sparked a huge resurgence in interest in feminism – particularly among savvy, young women – a few years ago. It has firmly found its place on social media in particular ever since. I think a fifth wave is now really around the corner – and it will be one that is firmly grounded in intersectionality and technology, and it will be led by the girls of today. Bring it on!

The People Vs Turner Case Study
In this case, Brock Turner a Stanford University student in America was convicted of“ sexually assaulting an unconscious woman outside a fraternity house”.( Buncome, 2016). Turner was sentenced to only“ 6 months in prison for his actions, of which he served 3 months”( Baker, 2016). The sentence was so lenient because“ The judge said he feared a longer sentence would have a“ severe impact” on Turner”( Baker, 2016). Perhaps consideration for the fact he was a champion swimmer and a privilege white male student at the elite university, meant his sentence was lowered. The victim wrote a heartfelt and very detailed account of what happened addressing both the judge and Turner. The victims letter opening began with“ You don’ t know me, but you’ ve been inside me, and that’ s why we’ re here today.”( Buncome, 2016). The letter spread fast through social media. According to Baysinger the letter had“ more than 11 million views in four days”.( Baysinger, 2016). This shows the real power of how social media can spread news instantly.

# Metoo Case Study
Most recently, in the news and throughout social media women have been reporting sexual harassment from men. This started with the expose of Harvey Weinstein.“ The film producer and cofounder of Miramax Films and The Weinstein Company”( Jackson, 2017). Weinstein was an incredibly powerful man within the Hollywood movie industry. On the 5th October, The New York Times released an article called“ Harvey Weinstein paid off sexual harassment accusers for decades”( Twohey, 2017). This article gave details of Weinstein paying women he had sexually harassed within his work place and in hotel rooms to keep quiet. Since The New York Times published the article“ 57 women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct”.( Staff, 2017). These women are A-list celebrities, independent and strong females who have gained the confidence through other women, to speak out about their accounts of Weinstein sexually harassing them. Before now women especially within the Weinstein case were encouraged to keep quiet for the sake of their career.
Another example of women showing solidarity, is the recent uncovering of sexual harassment within Westminster. Recent reports found that“ females who work within Parliament had been using a WhatsApp group to communicate information about alleged sexual harassment and abuse in Westminster”( Burnett, 2017).“ So far eight conservative and 4 labour MP’ s have been named following sexual harassment claims”.( Siddique, 2017). Many women within Westminster have come forward about their encounters with sexual harassment, after the expose of the Westminster sex scandal, and many more are still coming to light. Women, who have kept these assaults to themselves for years in fear“ it could go badly for them”, have now found the strength to talk about the assaults and make a change so the next generation of women do not have to go through what they have. A very powerful resource used to
