DISH MAGAZINE MARCH 2020 Pleasures SIMPLE Michele DeLuca O utside my windows, I watch the arrival of spring, joyful evidence that no matter how dark the win- ter, there is sunshine ahead. In the past few challeng- ing weeks, it has never been more important to remember that while we often cannot control what occurs outside our homes, we always have complete control of what occurs within our walls. As such, I have really been determined to enjoy life’s simplest pleasures … a sip of water from an ice-filled crystal glass, lunch placed on the pretty dishes my dad brought back from Germany when I was a child, and late night spoonfuls of my favorite Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, Phish Food, which is chocolate ice cream with marshmallow sauce and little chocolate fish. Simple pleasures have never been more important, and there are many shared within these pages. I hope you enjoy reading about the delightful dishes offered up by local chefs, farmers and retailers, including the vendors at the Lockport Community Market, the new chef at the Niagara Frontier Golf Club, and the glowing reviews of several local restaurants.
