3D Printing Series
Technology is exploding in the classroom, providing opportunities for
students and educators alike. Technology Workshops provide support
for educators and models for integration into the classroom.
Makerspace 101
Choose One: September 21, October 27, November 9, December 15,
January 14, February 11, March 22, April 22 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Registration Fee: $30
Join our resident Makers on a fast-paced overview of technology, hardware
and software designed for starting a makerspace of your own. All attendees will
receive a customized object as part of their visit.
Coding for Circuits: An Arduino Intro
Date: September 25, October 23, March 4 OR April 21 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $120
The Arduino microcontroller has become a universal processing unit that
runs everything from high-tech costumes to remote control garden watering
systems. Its success lies in the simplicity of its interface. Learn to write code
and bring projects to life. Registration fee includes an Arduino Starter Kit.
3D Printing and Design in the Classroom
Dates: February 17, October 21 OR November 13 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $35
3D printing has rapidly become more accessible and affordable for schools and
small businesses. Explore how to integrate this technology into math, science and
engineering lessons. Participants should have some basic knowledge of 3D printing,
but extensive experience is not required.
ABC’s of 3D Printing
Dates: September 24, January 26 OR March 23 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $35
Curious about 3D printing? Learn more about 3D printers and their applications
to classroom instruction. Discover ways you can utilize 3D printing and 3D printed
objects to support content, no matter what subject you teach. Participate in
several hands-on activities that are applicable to the curriculum, and learn how you
can access 3D printed objects from the Education Studio’s Resource Collection.
Owning a 3D printer is not required for this course.
Code Makers
Date: November 10 OR March 10 1:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $250
Code writing is becoming a major focal point for schools. Learn how to build
a Raspberry Pi 2 computer as well as write code to create popular old school
video games like Snake and Pong and make modifications to Minecraft.
Participants keep the computer, keyboard/trackpad and video adapter for
classroom use.
Digital Storytelling
Date: April 5 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $35
Interested in utilizing technology to support literacy in your classroom? Learn
how digital storytelling is taking over the written word and how students can
express their ideas and creativity in new formats.
Augmented Reality
Date: April 26 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $40
Experiment with various apps and web resources to see where augmented
reality can lead your instruction and students. Explore projects and curriculum
connections that integrate this new form of technology into your classroom.

Build Your Own 3D Printer
Choose One: September 19, October 17, November 21, December 19,
January 23, February 13, March 26, April 23 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $850
Are you ready to join the 3D printing revolution? Build a fully functional 3D printer
and learn the basics of how to process and print 3D objects. Each participant
receives a Printrbot Simple Metal 3D printer and 1kg of plastic filament. Attendees
must bring a computer running Windows XP/7/8, Mac or Linux with a USB drive for
installation of necessary programs and drivers.
