DID YOU KNOW?

Zug Island, was 190 million dollars. They were one of the wealthiest cities for its size back then, but you would have never known that as of today.

Lastly, as of 2024 the population has dropped to less than 6,900 residents compared to the 1970s when it was at 16, 000 when I was a teenager living there. The most residents it ever had was over 20,000 in 1950. I have many fond memories in those 19 years when the city was in much better condition than it is now, and I had the best neighbors around then. I went to Ann Visger Elementary

School, and I was a crossing guard, and played on the football team. I also

graduated in 1977 at River Rouge High School, where I was the President of the Woodworking Club, plus a Detroit News paperboy from 12 years old till 16 years old in River Rouge & Ecorse, and I was one of the first 5 employees hired at the former indoor ice rink as a skate guard, while playing on a hockey team. I was also in the cub scouts, and the webelos scouts at 8 to 10 years old. I stayed very busy when I was living there in my past, and I hope the city turns around one day, because it was a nice place to live at back in the 1960s and 1970s. I hope you enjoyed this brief history!
