to the world of peace and happiness, as where I came from everyone was stressed and not happy with their lives. I saw this one group of friends, one was a salon business owner, one had her own hair business, and the other was a rapper. The unique thing about this friend group was that they all come from Detroit, they came from having nothing to having everything. They had a dream and they ran with it until they accomplished it, and they all lifted up those around them letting people know that there is nothing you can’t do. If they did it, so can you.

These three women inspired me and led me to wanting more in life. I started to realize that I didn’t have to wait until I was

an adult to be successful, I can be successful now. I looked at all who were successful and said to myself, “I can do that too.” I didn’t want to do what they did though, I wanted to do more. I wanted to do what others may think is impossible. I want to be the one that others look at and say, “if she did it, I can do it too.” I want to be the one that lifts those up around me and inspires them to do more. fears and doubts can be the one and only thing stopping you from accomplishing your dreams. Excuses are words of the weak, for those who are strong, realize and accept their mistakes and accept the things they can’t change.

Dwelling on the past does not help you but harms you; it is behind you for a reason. You can be in complete darkness, but faith can lead you to the greatest light of all. You may not know exactly how to get there, but you can walk in faith, trust that you will get there and many more places. Don’t let the unkind words of man bring you down, instead let it make you stronger. Never regret your mistakes, for it has/will make you stronger and wiser. Today, at the age of 15, I am a salon worker (studying for my degree in cosmetology), a high school and college student (studying to be an RN), and the CEO of LavineCollection. There is nothing that you can’t do with God on your side. No matter how many people say you can’t, show them you can. Never stop working to make yourself greater. No matter what you may be “growing through” right now, know that it is only a season and it will pass. Greater is ahead. All you have to do is believe.
