VACATION AND TRAVEL

Article by Michael Joseph Lynch

Ireland

In this article I will be talking about a country where my family are from. We come from County Armagh and County Cork. Edward Lynch my 4th great grandfather came to America in 1775 and fought in the Revolutionary War till it ended. Edward is the first-generation Lynch in America, and I am a 7th generation Lynch.

Anyway, Dublin has many great attractions and the first one is the Kilmainham Gaol Museum. An imposing grey building, built in 1796. Unoccupied since 1924, Kilmainham Gaol (jail) is now a museum with an enthralling exhibit on the history of Irish nationalism. The guided tour of its grim cells and corridors is highly memorable and it finishes in the yard where the leaders of the failed 1916 Easter Rising were executed. This is very highly rated! This sells out a lot, so book online ahead of time. The tour takes about 90 minutes. The cost is 8 Euro’s or less depending on age.

This next attraction is also a museum that is very highly rated, which is The Little Museum of Dublin. As a local

history museum for the city of Dublin, the Little Museum chronicles the history of the city in the 20th century. It provides visitors with information on life in Dublin during that time. The museum has a collection of over 5,000 artifacts that have been donated or loaned directly from the people of Dublin. It has three floors of exhibition space in the Georgian townhouse and one floor for office space. If you want the Ultimate Dublin Experience, this is the place for you. The famous guided tour is at 15 Euro’s or less. There are other things happening here. See website for all Info!

This next attraction or place depending on how you view it, is the very highly rated Guinness storehouse.
