VACATION AND TRAVEL

shows in over 50 theaters, which offer variety shows, concerts, comedy acts, Illusionists, dinner shows, Irish singers, animal acts, acrobat shows, Broadway shows, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music shows, tribute shows to different stars like Elvis Presley and others who are no longer with us, family shows, disco music shows and of course; country music galore. There are more than 64,000 seats in over 50 theaters, which is more than all of the Broadway theaters in New York City.

Some shows are more popular than others such as the Liverpool Legends, who look and sound exactly like the real Beatles group. Also, there are the Legends in Concert shows having about 5 different individuals who perform music and look like the real deal. For example: one guy looks and sings and dances like the late Michael Jackson.

If you like horse shows, then there is the Dixie Stampede dinner show owned by country music star Dolly Parton. Currently, the family group called, “The Haygoods” is in the top ten most popular show to see, and also both the Drifters and the Platters Doo Wop groups have performances daily in Branson.

Outdoors, they have an 1800’s drama called, “The Shepherd of the Hills”, which is a play based on the 1907 novel by Harold Bell Wright. One of the very top attractions in Branson is Silver Dollar City which is an 1880’s theme park with carnival rides, an underground cave, musical acts throughout the park, demonstrating craftsmen, drama shows, food and much more. They are open from mid-March to late December.

While you’re there, you can expect to see over 260 restaurants such as the

Hard Luck Diner which is one of my favorites. All the waiters and waitresses at Hard Luck are all professional singers and they take turns singing to the customers, until they get a job with the local shows. This diner is an audition spot for talent to be discovered.

After you’ve eaten, there are over 200 shops in town to peruse. The Sights and Sound Theater off the strip is also very popular for biblical plays, with “Moses” being the current running production. Don’t forget to check out the life size replica of the Titanic in the Titanic Museum. Most of all the attractions, shows and restaurants are located on 76 Country Blvd which runs east and west through the city of Branson. Off of 76 Country Blvd are 2 wineries, the IMAX Theater, and so much more to see and do than I can list. And if you are there on a Sunday or Wednesday, Branson has many top notch churches with praise and worship services available to visitors.

If Branson sounds like a place you wish to visit, then go to www.Branson.com to get the most up to date information. You can even download a map of the city, pointing out all the shows and attraction locations.
