HEALTH MATTERS
founder and president of Lupus Detroit, Sharon Harris. She recently was getting over a stroke and talked to the students of Lupus Awareness. Shortly after, a line of teenagers came down by the panelists with questions in their hands.
The questions were pretty simple. Each warrior added their personal experience such as the treatments, symptoms, and effects that Lupus had on their lives. We want to inform them and make them more aware so that if they see any symptoms to go to the doctor. We encouraged them to get regular check-ups and anti-body tests for Lupus. I even told them I was diagnosed as a teenager at the age of 18. The crowd was very attentive and after we were done, several people came up to talk to us. I could tell they were listening to what we had to say and had even more questions to ask. One guy asked about anti-inflammatory foods. I told him about detox teas and another warrior gave him a list of foods that she eats.
