By the late 1930’s into the 1950’s, Harvey Hotels started closing one by one due to highways popping up everywhere with less need for the 2-lane roads anymore, where most all these properties were located. Due to fast progress, the Harvey Company could not grow with the rest of the industry, plus

cheap motels and fast food, and the fast highways made the Harvey Company less relevant, since Fred Harvey’s hotels/restaurants were elegant and classy, and people wanted fast and cheap nowadays. There is more to this man’s story, but this is a short version of the history of this man’s dream. I hope you enjoyed it!
