ORDINARY PEOPLE… At the age of 19, I vividly remember praying these words, “God, I’m just an ordinary girl, but please take my life and do something extraordinary with it.” Ironically, on November 8, 2014, I launched a business practice and ministry with the theme, “Ordinary People” as a tribute to the One who took this ordinary girl, and created something extraordinary out of my life. Here’s my story…
CALL TO PURPOSE
Growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma was memorable. I was the 4th of 5 children to a single-parent mother who modeled unconditional love, gentleness and grace. Our family was very close, but something was missing. There was a deep void in my heart which triggered a personal search for significance and identity. I graduated high school and entered a state university, and rapidly began to lose myself before even discovering my true self. It was, however, during this season of searching that my conscience was awakened and I began to ask soul-searching questions such as, “What is life really about?”… “What is my reason for existence?”… “Is God real?” The void was real, and with it was a continual beckoning and a sense of awareness that life was much bigger than what I was living. Just Ordinary People
(lyrics by Danniebelle Hall)
“Just ordinary people,
God uses ordinary people.
He chooses people just like me and you, who are willing to do as He commands.
God uses people that will give Him all,
no matter how small
your all may seem to you;
Because little becomes much
as you place it in the Master’s hand.
Just like that little lad,
who gave Jesus all he had;
How the multitude was fed with a fish
and loaves of bread.
What you have may not seem much,
But when you yield it to the touch of the Master’s loving hand,
Then you will understand how your life could never be the same.”
