Anyway, the first time I was there was when I was ten years old in 1968 with my elementary school. We arrived by train after a bus from our school dropped us off at a train station right across the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor. As a young kid, this train ride was just as exciting as the falls itself when we finally arrived.

Most people cross over from Detroit through the tunnel and take Highway 401 east, which turns into Highway 420. If you don’t take the fork in the road to the right, you may end up in Toronto. You really don’t even need a GPS to get there and back, because of the signs on the road, but just make sure you have the right form of Id’s like an enhanced license for instance. I’m sure there are other documentation they will accept which will get you from the USA into Canada, just research it.

When you do arrive, there are so many motel/hotel choses in which to stay. The hotels that are nearest to the falls are the Marriott, the Sheraton, the Embassy Suites,

the Hilton, the Crown Plaza, as well as other name brand hotels. If you stay away from the falls, there are many great accommodations also, some of which are for the budget conscience traveler who prefers to maybe use that saving to eat better, or visit more paid attractions.

I was fortunate enough to have stayed at two of the closest hotels next to the falls, one of which I already mentioned which was the Marriott Hotel. The other was the Sheraton Hotel during a three day “Christian Prophecy Conference,” which had many guest speakers. I learned a lot about the book of “Revelations,” and the book of “Daniel” at this conference. (I never mentioned this earlier but walking is the best way to experience Niagara Falls in Canada, since many attractions are so close to one another.)

I was told a long time ago that the Canadian side was better because it offered better views and more attractions as well as other advice given to me. Both sides are located on the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario.
