As it drew closer to the time, one by one the participants, parents and guest and instructors were filling the room. I looked up and the room was filled with people. Every chair had a person sitting in it. You could feel the high energy in the room and the anticipation. I was extremely happy that the day was finally here, and I said to myself, “Show time.” I went to the mike and welcomed everyone for coming and introduced my pastor, Pastor Philip Nissley, to do the opening prayer and a few words of exhortation. Afterwards, a few testimonies, introduction of instructors, and then we had lunch, which I must tell you was scrumptious and prepared by one of our board members, Connie Foster.
During the lunch hour, I was interviewed, by someone I mentored, MC Gino, for his You Tube broadcast; I was honored. Afterwards, I observed everyone mingling, even my 15-year-old granddaughter was interacting with a few of our new participants. I was excited about the turn out and everyone appeared to thoroughly be enjoying themselves. It was a day that had been anticipated after we completed the pilot STEP UP last year and it finally arrived.
