Anyway, my dad was a good teacher; he told me to look at the volume on how many people are trading this company per day. If that number is high, then there is a lot of interest in this company. Also, look at the market cap which tells you how much in a dollar amount of shares are owned by people like me.
Now, my company I am with now is at 36 billion dollars market cap (shares) purchased and owned by people like me, where the previous months they were at 30 billion, and that amount kept going up; meaning more people are investing in this company, because they feel it is going to make money.
Another indicator I look at is how many analysts are recommending this stock; some may say it is a buy, or a strong buy, or hold, or sell. This will let you know how the company is viewed by the professional firms, but you are the final say so on how you view this company.
I also look at the daily, weekly, and monthly charts that shows my stock’s progress or decline, which is a good indicator letting you know if the stock is growing or sliding into loss territory. Over at Yahoo Finance is where you will find different charts after putting your company’s symbol or name in the search engine, plus all the other stock indicators are all located at this website.
Lastly, my advice to the reader, if you want to get in the market, start off slowly with only money you can afford to lose, then research and learn what is hot and trending and how to play the market, and proceed with caution. I also looked at all the previous quarters just to see if they are hitting their earnings and making money as a company. If you look at the PE ratio it tells you how much revenue versus how much profit a company is doing. Usually, the revenue is higher than the profit, but if the profit shows a negative number, then the company is doing bad, even though the revenue is higher.
Another thing I look at is the 52 week range which shows me how low and high this company was trading for, where my company I had bought at 10 dollars was at a low of 6 dollars, and a high of 70 dollars; meaning I knew it had a lot of upside potential to eventually go back
