When people of different background, passion and self interests come together like salt and pepper as parents and children…we need God’s glue to keep them together long after the wedding ceremony & cake are gone, and long after the birthing room & love swat brings new life into the home! So whether you are a contented child, angry-lonely teen, single or engaged person, happily married, divorced, angrily married adult or somewhere in between…. I want you to look with me to GODLY SUPER GLUE WE NEED! Let us first see:
I. WHAT LOVE IS
A. A. Love is Defined and Expressed in God, so Pursue Him! Your spouse, parent or child cannot fulfill you only God can! So pursue God and seek His Love described in I Cor. 12:4 that is “patient, kind, not jealous, does not brag and is not
arrogant” as a love from above…so you can share it with others! I John 4:7 says ‘Love is from God’ and only those who allow Him into their heart thru faith in His Son, Jesus—are able to tap into love’s real power & express its fulfilling purpose. You cannot manufacture unconditional “Agape” love out of your own heart. It’s something only God can do! Its why Paul writes in I Cor. 13:4…
- “Love is PATIENT” and it inspires you respond in a positive, patient, understanding way in a negative situation.
- “Love is KIND” and it causes you to act in ways that maximize a positive circumstance, creating blessing for others!
- “Love is NOT JEALOUS”, does NOT BRAG, is not arrogant. It causes you to treat your mate, kids, parents & people around you the way you want to be treated!
B. Love is Satisfied Only with God, so Immerse Yourself in the Love & Promises God has for You! We all have expectations and desires!, Sometimes your spouse, children or parents meet them and sometimes they don’t. But they will never be able to totally satisfy all the demands you ask of them — partly because some of your demands are unreasonable, and
