Discovering YOU Magazine February 2020 Issue | Page 4

FROM

THE EDITOR'S DESK

As we celebrate Black history month, I want to give our readers something different to absorb into your spirits in this issue. I thought about the theme for this issue and I decided I really did not want to have a particular theme; I just wanted to convey to our readers inspiration from our hearts. Everyone who is reading this greeting can think of a Black person who changed the face of history with their contribution in the arts, music, literature, medicine, politics and science. There are even others who were deemed heroes because they took a stance when the odds seemed insurmountable. As you read these words, I know their faces come to your mind.

Well, I want to commemorate Black history month and Valentine’s day through recognizing a wonderful Black American artist, Anna Belle Washington, as well as in the form of poetry. This will be my personal contribution to the magazine. Most of you may not know that I am a published poet as well. I discovered I had a love for writing while writing poems in my early twenties. In fact, I published two poems that can be found in the public library in the book entitled, "Energy, Beauty & Spirit"-Anthology of Great Contemporary American Poetry. I am quite proud of this accomplishment and I would like to feature one of these poems in this issue. In this issue, there will also other poetry featured that I am sure you will be tremendously blessed by.

Now don't worry, you will still have the opportunity to read an inspiring article in Glorious Living and get a mouthwatering recipe from In the Kitchen with Toni and Friends; I won't deprive you of that. I hope you will thoroughly enjoy this issue as much as we enjoy bringing it to you. In this issue, we will celebrate the spirit of hope, love, and serenity. We will provoke change, deliverance and restoration because I believe that those who made the ultimate sacrifice had these intentions in mind. It gives me great pleasure to have the opportunity to come to you in the form of poetry and know that it will meet the need of our readers. I know that this issue will be a blessing to each and every one of you. Therefore, I just want you to sit back and relax, kick your feet up and prepare a cup of tea and allow this month's issue to indulge

you to Discover......Your Own Uniqueness!

Sincerely,
