BEFORE YOU SAY "I DO"
in His word concerning Jesus Christ and the Body of Christ or as it is also called, "The Church" (Ephesians 5: 21 - 33). God reveals His most intricate and sacred desires for us through this relationship. This is also true between a husband and wife. It's more than just a feeling or those butterflies you feel in your stomach when you are around that person. It's actually through the absence of those feelings that you still know you love that person with all of your very beings.
I believe that God can only validate intimacy between two people through His agape love. It ignites the perfect kind of love and adoration between them. When the word of God states that the love between a man and a woman is a mystery, it expresses the intimacy that exists between them that can only be experienced from the spiritual realm. If you are married, and you know, that you know, that you know that you are with your soul mate, then you are experiencing true intimacy with your mate. You are experiencing only what God would allow you to. This is why when a man finds a wife, they become one flesh. It is not just from a physical intertwining, but also a spiritual intertwining.
The marriage bed legitimizes intimacy in the physical and spiritual realm. When men and women indulge in pre-marital sex, they enter into a spiritual bond illegally, and God does not recognize this
union (I Corinthians 7:2). Because of this illegal entrance, so many men and women experience many problems in their lives with the opposite sex. There is confusion, heartache, illness (STDs), and often even death that occurs. This is very serious and not to be taken lightly. For this reason, I have made up in my mind that I want to do things God's way because I want to be legit when I experience intimacy again. I want my mate, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to be present, and we all become one as God has exemplified through the relationship with He and the Body of Christ.
If you are waiting to experience true intimacy, allow God to bring it into your life. Allow yourself to engulf the essence of true love and adoration with a person in marriage. Believe God to bless you with not someone you can live with, but someone you cannot live without to enjoy intimacy in its greatest form, that which God sanctions.
You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered (I Peter 3: 7, NASB).
