As Judas kissed Jesus, the Roman soldiers knew that He was the one that was to be turned over to the priests who wanted him crucified. Judas was remorseful when they began persecuting Jesus and wanted to give the thirty pieces of silver back to Jesus' accusers. They told him, "This is not our problem. This is your responsibility; do with the coins as you wish."
Judas was so ashamed that he hung himself on a tree. When Judas realized that his decision to betray an innocent man would lead Jesus to a gruesome death, he could not face it. He wanted to renege on his action, but he was quickly reminded that he decided to be a
betrayer; therefore, whatever the outcome was his responsibility. No, he did not drive the nails into Jesus' hands and place a crown of thorns on his head, but the decision to act on his betrayal was his responsibility; he could not pass the buck (Mathew 27: 1 - 66). This heinous action caused the deaths of two people, and because Judas couldn't hold someone else responsible for this crime, he took the cowards' way out.
Haven't you seen this action many times? Someone decides to perform an act, and when it does not pan out, they want to revoke or pass the buck on to someone else. They do not want to take responsibility for their actions. We are
