SINCE THE BABY WAS NO ORDINARY BABY (Luke 2:10-11)
A.The day was most needed since our world’s sin is so much like Roaring Camp. Sin had taken control of the lives of people and we need a “Savior”! From the days of Adam, sin has caused much pain and suffering. Drugs, murder, sexual abuse, broken homes, crime—has had a field day! Instead of resisting sin and evil, people are embracing it! It’s why we each need a Day That Changes Our World!
B.The day was most transforming because this baby was God come to earth. The angel said in Matt. 1 to Joseph that he was “Emmanuel—God with us!” Jesus was God in the flesh, the one promised for many centuries. His name Jesus means Savior! Jesus came to save those trapped in sin…and to do that He lived to die to bring us forgiveness for our sin and hope of life forever in heaven. In John 3:16 we’re told “God loved the world so much that He sent His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
C.The day Jesus was born to save us was most unusual since it was supernatural. Jesus was born in a dirty, smelly stable among cattle to show how real God is, by coming to the depth, stench and poverty of our need to restore us! It shows God getting in the midst of our problems and doing something about them. While sin has a powerful influence, this Baby’s life has a far greater influence. If your family sees your surrender and faith in Jesus .... the
love, gentleness and forgiveness He brings…will cause them to want this Christmas Baby and a powerful influence He brings to change lives and the atmosphere in your home!
II.THE DAY WAS NO ORDINARY DAY SINCE THE CREATOR OF TIME INVADED EARTH (Isa. 9:6a)
A.The Value and Prophetic Fulfillment of His Arrival. Isaiah says here, “For unto us a child is born (identifies Him as a man), unto us a Son is given (identifies Him as God).” Jesus is the embodiment of God’s Grace, God’s Glory and God’s Greatness! On the otherhand, there are no prophecies foretelling details about the birth of other religious leaders such as Muhammad (Islam), Joseph Smith (Mormonism), Charles Russell (Jehovah’s Witnesses), Siddhartha Gautama (Buddhism), or any other founder of religion! Yet Jesus’ arrival fulfilled over 48 Old Testament prophecies that pinpointed numerous details about the birth of the Son of God and Savior of the world. Jesus the Creator of Time, entering the lineage of Adam, Abraham, David, etc. (as fulfilled in Matt. 1 and Luke 3), born by Virgin conception (Isa. 7:14) and his name will be called Immanuel (Matt.1:18, 23), born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2 and Matt. 2:6) would come out of Egypt (Hosea 11:1, Matt. 2:15), and called a Nazarene (Matt. 2:23). All in all, Jesus’ life fulfilled over 300 prophecies!
B.The Value of this Supernatural Invasion of Earth. Jesus is “everlasting.” There was never a time when He was not and there will never be a time when He is not! He is the great “I AM”--the eternal, self-existent One! The Value of His Supernatural Invasion of Earth is found in
