My Story
There is a notion that retirement age is not the time to grow new business ideas. I believed, when God gives you an idea no matter what age you are, you should run with it. If you decide to do God’s work and do not want to solely depend on your retirement income to support your business, then seek resources such as food competitions, grants, family and friends. My sisters and brother contributed finances to my idea. I participated in pitch competitions and worked as a vendor in several markets (Eastern Market, Flint Farmers Market, Making It in Michigan, Vegi Bash Etc.) I am still breaking financially even but doors are continually opening for me.

Who am I to do this? I’m a family medicine physician, a doctor who trained at Wayne State University School of Medicine. I’ve always had a big heart for the underserved community as I have been volunteering at different medical clinics since age 17. When I was a junior in High School, I began volunteering on Saturday mornings at the Cass Clinic in Detroit.
Under the guidance of Wayne State medical students and a wise attending physician, we cared for the most vulnerable residents of Cass Corridor. These were the homeless, the folks living in halfway houses and drug rehabilitation centers, senior citizens with mobility issues, and the working poor who couldn’t otherwise afford health insurance.
