The alternative to Byte Dance selling TikTok would be banned from app stores in the U.S. President Biden said he would sign the bill and if it passed the Senate it would become a nationwide ban. Efforts to ban this app have been blocked by legal challenges and concerns over free speech. They have used the First Amendment to overturn state and federal efforts to restrict how they operate. Byte Dance has 180 days to sell the app if not it would be unlawful for app stores and web companies to distribute, maintain, or update the application. However, even if they legally ban Tiktok, Americans who are loyal to the app would find ways to keep using the app.
