SPANISH
STUDIO ART
The Spanish major encompasses
the richness and diversity within
the Spanish language, literatures,
and cultures. The major provides
opportunities for immersion
in Hispanic cultures through
extensive study abroad programs
in Latin America and Spain.
Students who have studied
Spanish in high school must
take a placement exam before
enrolling for Spanish classes.
At the advanced level, students
choose from a variety of courses
in Spanish literature, linguistics,
and culture. A study abroad
language immersion experience
is required of all majors. Students
who wish to earn teacher
certification may apply to the
Teacher Education program
during their sophomore year.
Studio Art students explore
and create using the language
of two and three-dimensional
form, space, and time in various
media and technologies,
including ceramics, electronic
arts and intermedia, graphic
design, painting, photography,
printmaking, and sculpture.
There are two degree programs
in Studio Art for undergraduate
students. The Bachelor of
Fine Arts in Studio Art is a
professional program for
students who anticipate careers
in the practice of art or design,
or for students planning on
graduate study in those fields.
