Reasons to clean-up after dogs
1. It helps keep our community, clean, beautiful and your
neighbors will appreciate you being a responsible dog own-
er and picking up on a daily basis and applying lime will
help prevent odors.
6. Pet waste can get into the stormwater system which goes
directly into waterways.
7. Animal waste adds nitrogen to the water. Ex-
cess nitrogen depletes the oxygen in water
necessary for benefi cial underwater grasses,
wildlife and fi sh.
2. Your lawn will be more usable and look nicer,
nobody likes to see a yard with “doggie land
mines”.
8. Roundworms and hookworms deposited by
infected animals can live in the soil for long
periods of time and be transmitted to other
animals and humans.
3. It is the law, the City requires that dog own-
ers shall immediately remove any feces left
by your dog when not on your own property.
When you use the trails, please remove the
droppings.
9. Animal waste may contain harmful organ-
isms such as Giardia, Salmonella and E. coli
that can be transmitted to humans and other
animals by ingesting contaminated water.
4. It’s easy to clean up by carrying plastic bag-
gies. Th e baggies can be secured and thrown
away in your garbage.
5. No one likes to step in pet waste and spread it into homes,
cars, businesses.
10. Th is will also prevent fl y control in wh ich fl ies consume
and lay eggs in feces. Th ese same fl ies may then fl y into
your house.
