Discover Tallinn March 2014 | Page 6

There's a whole world out there By Emilia Kiiskinen We at “Discover Tallinn” truly believe that traveling is one of the best things in life. It is normal to want a break from life sometimes, and traveling is the perfect way to do that. We have experienced a lot of traveling in our lives, and this is what we’ve discovered: Traveling opens up your mind, and you get to see new places and meet new people. You can taste new food, learn how the world functions, and learn about new cultures and maybe even something about yourself. You learn to appreciate the country you visited ,and also your home country. You can discover a new exciting city, an isolated island, a shopping heaven or a beautiful small town- anything is possible. The whole world is open to you.      And why do we think that it is so important to travel? It is important because we get to know and understand other cultures, we can break cultural and language barriers, so that we can understand our world and what happens here better.  And hopefully develop a respect for one another, because many of the problems in this world develop from misunderstandings based on cultural differences. Therefore, get to know the world, and make it a little better.    Traveling to new places is always exciting, but to discover something new, you don’t always have to look that far. That’s why we are here to tell you about a beautiful, special foreign city- located only about two hours away from us. Tallinn is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway, a spa-vacation, a shopping trip, or why not just a one day visit. We think that Tallinn has something for everyone, and that is why we are here to tell you all about our neighbor city and the reasons we Finns are so fond of it. Maybe you have been to Tallinn before, or you are thinking of going. Either way, you will find a culture in Estonia with many similarities as well as differences from our own. So travel, enjoy, discover. Live. But first, I hope you enjoy our magazine. “Get to know the world, and make it a little better.”
